Elizabeth Larose was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana, near New Orleans. She studied art in New Orleans and San Francisco, receiving her B.A. in art from San Jose State in 1978. She also received a doctorate and two masters from Columbia University.
Larose’s work deals with energy in nature and the consciousness of a place. Influenced by the colors and climate of her native Louisiana and years lived in India, Turkey and Columbia her works evoke timelessness and the spirit of her subject matter. Her minimalist landscapes are simultaneously playful and peaceful, elegant and energetic. They appeal to us for their modulation and juxtaposition of color and subtle play of light.
Her works indeed exude a strong and calming presence. Impressions of landscapes and composites of places across the world fascinate and soothe us and bring to mind the beauty and wisdom of nature.
Larose maintains a studio in Tiburon, California. Her work is included in numerous private and several corporate collections. She has exhibited in galleries around the world.
